About Us

John C. D'Ambrosio, D.C.

My name is John C. D’Ambrosio, D.C., and I am the sole proprietor and owner of Head First Chiropractic.  I am also one of a small handful of chiropractors who specializes and works directly with the cranium or skull.

I have been under regular chiropractic care for over 20 years now and I still get checked weekly by my chiropractor.  As a chiropractor for over a decade and a half, I deal with the health, wellness and the innate or inborn intelligence within the body that controls and regulates life and healing.

To understand what I mean, there are a few facts that need to be established.  A foundation if you will.  The first is that the human body is a self-healing and self-regulating organism.  This means that if you cut yourself, you don’t have to think about the wound healing; the body does this on its own.  This is something that does not take place if a corpse or cadaver would to be cut and only occurs when life is present.

Self-regulation is also something that occurs without our thoughts or concentration.  For example, consider the 4 trillion red blood cells circulating within your body.  Red blood cells have a lifespan of 120 days.  Do you have to think and keep track of which of the red blood cells needs to be destroyed and replaced?  When you swallow your food, do you have to concentrate on secreting stomach acid for the breakdown of this food, on the absorption of the various nutrients?  When you exercise do you have to focus on increasing your heart rate, beat by beat, to ensure that the right amount of blood gets to your muscles and the correct amount of oxygen is brought into your lungs, passed along to your red blood cells, and then to the areas of the body in need?  This is self-regulation.

Now that we’ve established that the human body is a self-healing and self-regulating organism, let’s move onto the next pertinent piece of information.  The master system that controls the self-healing and self-regulating is the central nervous system.  This consists of the brain and spinal cord.  It is your nervous system which calls your immune system to action, which deals with and controls the healing process, which signals the glands to secrete, signals the muscles to contract and relax along with so many other processes that allow you to function and live as a healthy human being.

With this fact established, it now stands to reason that any interference within the central nervous system will in turn negatively impact the ability of the body to self-regulate and self-heal.  These interferences do indeed take place, and they are called subluxations.  As a chiropractor, I determine if your body is being affected by these subluxations and then I remove them, allowing the body to once again function at optimal levels.

How does one end up with subluxations?  These subluxations are related to lifestyle stress and in many cases, don’t exhibit any symptoms, yet still cause nerve interference.  This is why even in the absence of symptoms, it was critical for everyone, including children, to have their subluxations adjusted.

How can a chiropractor detect these subluxations?  In our office, we have cutting edge computerized technology which is used by NASA and certified by the Space Foundation to do just that.  This technology is also used by professional sports teams as well, such as the Indianapolis Colts, the Baltimore Ravens, the Detroit Lions, the San Diego Padres, and the Houston Rockets just to name a few.

Why would athletes need to have their subluxations detected and removed through chiropractic care?  One of the best kept secrets in professional sports is an athletes’ ability to enhance their performance though improved nervous system function.

Athletes aren’t the only group who benefits from chiropractic care; everyone can.  My primary intention with every person who is a member of my practice is to adjust subluxations and thereby improve the efficiency of neural function which will translate into a greater ability for the individual to express and experience life.  That is what chiropractic is to me and why I am a chiropractor.
